Tasty Bag O’ Tunes, #3

By flavormonkey

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last tasty bag post. But I’ve got some quality stuff, so enjoy:

The new Cut Copy album is really good. It’s a smooth blend of old Depeche Mode/Pet Shop Boys/Book of Love synth pop.

The latest Los Campesinos! album has its moments in a “hard twee” sort of way.

Once is a fabulous film, a modern musical that doesn’t feel at all like a musical. The Swell Season isn’t the soundtrack to the film but it does share songs and it’s a gorgeous, passionate album.

When Your Minds Made Up - Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova

I recently discovered Giant Sand (thanks emusic!) and was “meh” towards them at first. But the track Shiver is just insane…the lyrics are amazing. If you like Smog, or Lambchop, or Swearing at Motorists, or Poison Dart then you will probably dig GS.

Ahh, The Pillows. Where do I begin with these guys? I am having a love affair with their music. They are a pretty prolific Japanese band that consistently pumps out quintessential Indie-Rock. It’s so damned good that it makes no difference that most of the lyrics are sung in Japanese.

Thank You My Twilight - The Pillows
